If you ever visit a dog park and listen to owners call out the name of their dogs, you will notice that there doesn't seem to be much variation in the naming of dogs.  Although some people do have very creative names for their dog, many stick to the usually dog names.  Here's a list of the top 10 dog names and I will admit that I have owned dogs with some of the names listed below, so I guess I don't have much of an imagination either!
